Kootenay Society for Community Living (KSCL) is proud to serve individuals in the following areas:

  • Castlegar, and surrounding areas
  • Nelson, and surrounding areas
  • Nakusp, and surrounding areas
  • Trail, and surrounding areas
  • Creston, and surrounding areas

As a Home Share Provider, you will welcome someone into your home/family, and support as necessary, depending on the unique needs of the individual. This is a wonderful opportunity, which, with the right fit, can be an enriching experience for all involved. The type of support will be driven by the needs of the individual and may include, but not limited to day-to-day guidance on decisions and activities, providing a safe environment to learn daily living skills such as hygiene, cooking, transportation, etc, along with positive encouragement to succeed in meeting goals and challenges. Transporting or accompanying appointments, monitoring or administering medications, providing nutritious meals, shopping, budgeting, social skills, are some of the areas of support areas that a Home Share Provider would support an individual with.

As a Home Share Provider, you will work with KSCL to complete a Home Study and will be expected to meet the criteria (such as, but not limited to a clear Criminal Record Check, First Aid Training, and a desire to welcome someone into your life) to become a qualified Home Share Provider. Detailed planning, time, and thought is put into deciding who will be the best fit for all involved, and whether all involved are comfortable and feel the match is suited. You will meet KSCL’s Monitoring and Reporting requirements on an ongoing basis and will have access to training and continuous support from your Home Share Manager.

Basic Requirements to become a Home Share Provider:

  2. satisfactory home study completed
  3. criminal record check & background check
